What is NaNoWriMo?

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. In 2005, there were over 59,000 participants. Nearly 10,000 of them crossed the 50k finish line by the midnight deadline, entering into the annals of NaNoWriMo superstardom forever.

Doing it for Charity

In the past I have ridden across the Sinai desert and travelled the Great Wall of China for charity (see here)

But age is getting to me so I'm writing for charity instead, you can sponsor me by the word (recommended rate 0.02p per word = 10UKP if I do 50,000 but there is a risk I'll do more).

Contact me if you'd like to sponsor me, by the time the event starts I should have an automatic word and sponsorship totaliser running. (You don't have to put the money through me, you can find out what the money is used for and donate at the NaNoWriMo website.)
