Is there anything he can't do?
Editorial
When it comes to writing I have written for a range of different magazines specialising in as diverse areas as SMS to poetry. I recently estimated that I have, conservatively, published 2,500,000 words.
My editing skills are very keenly honed and so I am able to:
- Design balanced copy
- Commission from writers
- Write copy to length, style and deadline
- Sub-edit
- Proof-read
- Source images
- Manage a photo-shoot
- Design pages
- Layout copy
- Work to tight deadlines and even tighter budgets
- Manage entire magazines from concept, design and launch
PR & Marketing
Over the last few years I have been adding marketing and PR skills to my portfolio providing me with the ability to:
- Organise press launches
- Write press releases
- Write client feature articles
- Run exhibitions & conferences
Programming
On the programming front, over the last 38 years I have worked on a huge variety of operating systems and platforms. In recent years my interests have taken me to specialise in databases and web programming.
I am familiar with the following computer languages and applications:
- C/C++
- HTML, PHP, Javascript, XML
- UML2
- MS Access, MySQL
Other skills
- Making tables (out of wood)
- Writing poetry
- Writing novels
- Painting in oils
- Sculpting
- Cooking
Yes, there's lots he can't do (skateboard, ski, pilot a plane...) but when it comes to words ... not so much.
