Rainbow Tears

I stand engaged in words of ancient longing
I speak and tears form as crystals in your eyes
Like raindrops they spark a rainbow's gleam.

I sing with words that stir the hidden glow
With double-edged barbed words that cut your heart.
And rainbow tears fall in a rose-cheek sky.

As a bard I whisper dreams that are thorns
Each whispered thorn a dream to trap
Each whispered dream a thorn to catch.

I see your pain in rainbow crystals that light your eyes,
From grey eyes the crystals fall
I reach and touch a rainbow tear
And feel its warmth burn my heart.

Could words but be spoken as feather down
But the mind betrays the spirit in this ancient dream.
