Apology

When you face the truth...

So sorry,
Let me start that again.

When I face the truth,
And see what you've said...

No, that's wrong,
Let me try that again.

When I face the truth
And realise what I've said.

I understand what I've done.
And, so much, I want to
Take it back but...

I cannot.

Your just anger scorches me
And the pain I caused twists
The knife driven into the both of us.

No apology will take it back
Nothing can untwist the knife, but...

Regret is mere unwillingness
To face the truth of now,
By turning to the past
In vain efforts to unmake it.

So I will not regret, but...
I will make right this wrong.
And I begin with this:

I am so sorry.
